As if we thought our “boring” life was beginning to flirt with the edge of good old sanity, Mary and I made an interesting decision this Christmas season.
We looked at each other and said, “What this house could use is another warm body. Maybe one that sheds and licks itself? Sure!” No, Mary’s drunk uncle didn’t move in with us (kidding!). We decided to get a family dog for Christmas. In other news, Hell has frozen over and Pigs are up in the sky flying over Atlanta.
Introducing Sam aka Samson aka Samuel Fluffenstein Owens III, aka Samuel Adams… Boston Dogger.
Sammy is 1/2 Golden Retriever, 1/2 Samoya and 1/2 Lump of warm flesh who sleeps 21 hours a day on the rug. In short, he’s the perfect dog for our family and we couldn’t be happier.
We got him at the local Humane Society and, I have to say that I was floored at how much red tape they put us through! It was like we were adopting a kid. Seriously! After 150 background checks, a home visit, a drug test and a rectal exam (ouch), we got to bring the old boy home with us.
So, our family now complete, the question is, where do we go from here? It IS getting a little boring. I say we get an Alligator.
